This piece was commissioned by the Aspen Art Museum and premiered during the opening of their 2023 Youth Art Expo: Puppets, Masks and Storytelling. The opening itself was titled “Puppets, Pancakes and Pajamas”. The rooftop of the museum was filled with the sounds you hear here as children and their families explored the exhibit and made edible pancake art! The rooftop + the pancakes + the sheer joy that floating around the museum = pancake heaven.

More about the Youth Art Expo: MAPS Arts (www.musicartpuppetsound.org), the 501(c)(3) nonprofit I co-founded and operate, created several art project prompts circulating around the idea of puppets and narrative objects. Local children in the Roaring Fork Valley created artworks inspired by these prompts which were displayed in the museum during the month of May 2023. We collaborated with the brilliant puppeteers Poncili Creación (www.instagram.com/poncilicreacion) on the install and in puppet-making workshops and performances during the week leading up to the exhibition.
